Having a stoma is a major change in your life and it can take time to adapt to your new lifestyle. You may need support with learning how to cope with difficult emotions, how to get used to your altered body or support with building your confidence. We have various support tools and resources which are aimed to help improve your well-being. Explore these tools and resources below.
Tim’s journey started in 1999, when he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis which was kept under control through medication and diet changes.
In 2019 Tim became ill and a colonoscopy discovered a tumour inside his back passage. Two surgeons from Tim’s local hospital performed a total pelvic exenteration, removing his large bowel, bladder, prostate gland, rectum and anus. Tim now has two stomas: a urostomy and an ileostomy.
Tim is a retired mechanic and car enthusiast, married to his wonderful wife Denise they share 2 children, 4 stepchildren and 2 grandchildren.

Tim had tried different bags but when Confidence BE® came along he was eager to try it. “I knew straight out of the box it was all going to be fine. I was impressed with Confidence BE® Urostomy just like my ileostomy bag”.

“I had comfort again, the smoothness against my skin, a lack of a rustle against my clothes.”
“It’s easy to empty, secure and easy to manage. It ticked every box. Confidence BE® is something I trust, something I rely upon, and it means so much to me.”
Carina lives with her partner and has 3 children. She struggled to manage her Crohn’s symptoms for 10 years, was in constant pain and her work as a self-employed photographer was severely impacted. Following a severe flare up in 2022, Carina was admitted to hospital and had emergency stoma surgery.
Carina believes it’s important to share a positive message about having a stoma, for others suffering with Crohn’s, she wants to show you can live a nice life!
She loves going to the gym, eating out, going for long walks, watching movies, dancing and crafts.

Having colour choice with Confidence BE® impacts Carina hugely. Being sent home from hospital with a nude bag stuck to her body, stuck out like a sore thumb and felt like a medical device. When her stoma nurse visited a week later and showed her the black Confidence BE® bag, she was drawn to them. “The black bags don’t feel medical, they feel like an accessory, and I can style them out with my outfits.”

“As soon as I changed to black bags, it changed my opinion of myself, physically and mentally.”
From 2021 Elliot hoped medical solutions would work to ease his ulcerative colitis symptoms, but unfortunately he was becoming more unwell, less confident and unable to live a normal life. Elliot opted for surgery in 2022 as his surgeon informed him his quality of life would improve considerably.
Elliot’s stoma provides new challenges, but life is so much easier than the challenges of ulcerative colitis.
Elliot lives with his girlfriend and works as a Marketing Manager. He is fitter than ever and regularly plays hockey and enjoys running.

“I was recently in the crowd at Glastonbury festival and realised it was the first time in as long as I could remember, I was purely enjoying the moment and not worrying about where the nearest loo was! I thought that it I can do this, I really can do anything!”

“Being able to choose the colour of the bag allows me to control how I look with my stoma. I can’t change having a stoma, but being able to change the colour of my bag gives me back control.”
Tom’s journey began in 2021, when he noticed blood in his stools, later that year a colonoscopy showed an area of concern in his rectum and Tom was diagnosed with rectal cancer, for which he was treated.
In 2023 the cancer returned, growing through the rectal wall, Tom then had a lower anterior resection, it would only be one month later when Tom was rushed back into theatre to have a permanent colostomy formed.
Tom is married, has 1 son, a golden retriever and 2 rag dolls! Tom is an avid gym goer, loves boxing, food and socialising time with his friends and family.

“The texture, the shape and the colour choices are it for me, they look the most fashionable bag out there”.

“I love Confidence BE® and all it stands for, I can train hard in the gym, have fun with my son and live my life to the fullest.”
Paul was diagnosed with rectal cancer 4 years ago following a standard screening test. Unfortunately, Paul‘s cancer was aggressive and immovable and kept coming back, major surgery was required to remove all of Paul’s lower bowel and formation of a stoma along with proctectomy surgery, followed by months of chemotherapy.
Paul‘s passions are his wife, children and grandchildren, he is also is a professional musician and fronts ‘60’s successful rock and roll band “The Viewers”. Using his platform to encourage other men to be open about their health and well-being.
Using his platform to encourage other men to be open about their health and well-being. Paul also works alongside his wife at their design agency in Cornwall.

“I have seen first hand how much work Salts puts into advancing products for their patients. Finding the right product has helped bring me back to life not just physically but psychologically. It helps me feel ‘free’ to the point of sometimes forgetting that I have a stoma”.

“I am a professional musician and appear in public, wearing a stoma bag under different coloured shirts is important.”
“I always look to diminish drawing attention to the fact that I have a stoma. Irrespective of my job, I’d still want to blend the colour of my stoma pouch with what I am wearing.”
Damian was diagnosed with Crohn’s in 2011 following the discovery of an abscess in his bowel, at the time he suffered with extreme fatigue and unexplained weight loss – losing two stone in just two weeks.
In 2015, Damian became very ill, spending a week in hospital where a second abscess was found between Damian’s large and small intestine. New Years Eve saw Damian receive emergency surgery to treat sepsis. Due to the severity of his case, Damian woke up with an ileostomy and 2 fistula stomas on either end of his large bowel.
Damian lives with his wife and 2 children; he enjoys the gym and regularly goes cycling with his son.

“Confidence BE® doesn’t feel like a medical device, they don’t make that crunching sound and feel like a piece of clothing. The colours allow me to change things up, depending on what I’m wearing which gives me confidence and pride in my own appearance.”

“I worried about being active with the kids. Sitting on the sidelines like I often did being poorly. Nothing could be further from the truth. My stomas gave me a glimpse into what I’d been missing.”
In May 2007 Nathan started to bleed when he went to the toilet, by January 2008 he was going to the toilet around 20 times a day, was totally run down and losing weight rapidly.
He was eventually rushed to A&E with severe dehydration and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis with his own colon poisoning him. The surgeons told him he had days to live, he then had life saving surgery, resulting in an ileostomy and proctectomy.
Nathan has a real zest for life! He loves to practice yoga, travel, get as many tattoos as he can and live his life to the fullest!

Nathan currently uses the Confidence BE® range in black and says everything about the bag makes him feel secure.

“The flange is great; it sticks amazingly, and the wafer is thicker on the inside and thinner towards the edges. Then we get to the material - wow! No more bobbly material. I wear it in black and it’s almost silky.”
“The shape of the bag is perfect. Emptying the bag is quick and easy and I love how it is all tucked away. The bag instead kind of makes me feel sexy! I don’t feel ashamed to show it.”
Bowel problems began for Tanya in her early 20’s, constantly feeling bloated, going to the toilet several times a day and experiencing severe weight fluctuations. Tanya also experienced fatigue and period pains that left her bed ridden.
In 2019, she was diagnosed with endometriosis, resulting in surgical menopause. Stents were placed to help Tanya’s urethra strengthen, resulting in emergency bowel resection and a stoma – named Lola!
Tanya loves to travel, goes to the gym up to 6 times a week, has a keen eye for fashion and wants to feel as glamorous as she can.
With a real passion for sharing stoma awareness within all cultural differences, she hopes to support others to have a voice.

The overall feel of Confidence BE® makes such a difference to how Tanya feels. She’s used other bags, and they just don’t compare. “It’s like wearing the wrong lipstick or the outfit you didn’t want to wear.”
“On holiday and on the beach, I want to have the right bag for me. I want to look a particular way and when you look good, you feel good!”

“When you’ve got something stuck to your stomach, you want to look the best you can, you can’t control much in this situation, but with Confidence BE®, you can control the colour of your bag.”
Yvonne Holley is a Mum to two young children and was diagnosed with Crohn’s at the age of 12. She spent much of her childhood poorly, missing lots of school and then at the age of 20 had a colostomy formed, along with proctectomy surgery. Yvonne also lives with arthritis and epilepsy.
Before her bag, Yvonne was going to the toilet up to 10 times a day, it didn’t matter what time of the day it was, she would sit on the toilet for hours. The toilet soon became her comfort zone she was in so much pain and totally exhausted. When she had her stoma, she tells us “I loved it to pieces, I could live my life again”.
Yvonne loves to travel, socialise and her family is her everything!

“After eight years I found a bag that worked for me – Confidence BE® – and I don’t know where I would be without it. When I first saw them, I thought they looked so pretty. The material was beautiful quality, and the colours were like nothing I’d ever seen.”
“I almost totally forget my bag is there, I just know it won’t leak or come off. If you don’t have the right bag, it will always wake you in the night. I thought I had to live with leaks for the rest of my life, but since changing to Confidence BE® I can’t even remember the last time my bag woke me up.”

“Due to Crohn’s, I went through early menopause and having Confidence BE® during this time was just a gift.”
Before her diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis at just aged 16, Ailish always had to plan her life around being close to a toilet. Trying to live a normal life was difficult and stressful for Ailish, she was always in pain.
This early diagnoses gave her the chance to research the possibility of having a stoma, which was ultimately the case in 2020 due to failed medication attempts. Ailish has an ileostomy and proctectomy surgery.
Ailish lives with her boyfriend Billy and their dog Reg! She enjoys the gym and has recently re-discovered her love for running.

Ailish has the confidence to live her life to the fullest now. “I can trust Confidence BE® to support me every day, I love my sleep and it’s never my bag that wakes me!”

“Colour choice is so important to me and knowing I can match my bag to an outfit makes a big difference”
Jessica was born with chronic constipation and had a colostomy formed at the age of 4 - with no known cause. Since having her stoma surgery, Jessica has developed diversion colitis and Levator Ani syndrome.
Despite still being chronically constipated, Jessica is extremely positive and says having her stoma (Apple!) has given her a better quality of life.
With her incredibly infectious personality, Jessica is extremely active in raising stoma awareness.
She is a positive, happy girl who loves to dance, sing, swim and do the occasional TikTok! She is very confident in changing her own bag and says having a stoma hasn’t stopped her from doing her favourite activities.

“The first time I went abroad to Spain in 2019 I wore the Confidence BE® mini bags, this helped me feel confident I was able to wear my 2-piece swim suit – the white bags match and they stayed on really well. I was able to play all day in the pool without worrying, no one even noticed I had a stoma bag!”

“Jessica wears Confidence BE® mini in white, which she says is her favourite colour as it goes with all of her clothes!”
Laura has two stomas: a urostomy and a colostomy which were formed in 2017, during a total pelvic due to her bladder cancer diagnosis.
As a manager with a high level of responsibility, Laura leads a very busy life but also loves to take time out to cook and travel with her husband. Laura is a positive person and is very proud of all of her achievements.
Volunteering for a blood cancer charity and supporting lots of people on their journey means a lot to Laura.
“I don’t feel the bag on my body anymore... to not feel that you are wearing a bag is a winner for me.”

I used Confidence BE® first for my colostomy and knew what to expect when the urostomy option became available. I was very keen to have the matching bags. To now have two bags that are smooth, they give me a warm feeling and sort of hug me which is just great.

“Without sounding like a cliché, it gave me the confidence to go out and do normal things and feel it was secure. It’s clear that whoever designed it had listened to what’s important to people and that everything had been thought through.”
In 2020 when seeing blood and mucus in her stools, Charlotte was diagnosed with mild Ulcerative Colitis & Crohns. By 2022 she was incredibly unwell, spending days in bed and was so malnourished her brain felt like it was shutting down, wheelchair bound and in hospital, there wasn't a part of Charlotte that didn't hurt.
Surgeons’ discovered Charlottes bowel wasn’t working and it was during an MRI the situation became an emergency – Charlottes bowel had perforated and she received lifesaving surgery, resulting in an ileostomy.
Charlie is a married mother of 2 boys, a part-time fitness instructor - with an incredible sense of humour! - and a huge passion for empowering those with a stoma.

“Confidence BE® bags aren't clinical looking at all and the choice of colours is great. I get asked all the time which bags I use; I wouldn’t advocate for something I didn’t love”.
Charlotte wears the Confidence BE® mini bags in black at the gym; she also loves all water sports including swimming, kayaking and the occasional dip in a hot tub!
“My bag can stay on for 5-6 days at a time, it’s great in the gym I can get sweaty and just dry my bag quickly afterwards!”.
Becca was diagnosed with IBD as she approaching her 40th Birthday, symptoms of blood in her stools and a decline in her mental health pushed her to go and see her GP. At this point, Becca couldn’t leave the house, she had lost a considerable amount of weight and was unable to even take her son to school.
After trying several medications and a severe flare up resulting in another hospital stay, Becca was offered surgery and knew this was the option she had to take.
Becca is married, with 2 children and works as a Primary School Receptionist. She is an advid runner and by her own admission she is a very optimistic "glass half full" kind of person, and always sees the positives!

Becca is more confident now, than before having her stoma. She wouldn't ever put herself on camera, but since having a stoma - she's the opposite! She feels more confident in her body, fitter than ever and is more in tune with her body.
“When I tried Confidence BE®, they allowed me to be myself again, I don’t notice them on my body and I can get on with my life without worry or concern as to what my stoma is up to!”.
“Finding the right bag is so important to accepting having a stoma, it’s like finding the outfit that makes you feel confident, it has to be right for you”.
Jonathan had been feeling ill for a few years, with no solution found, he was experiencing a constant urge to urinate and also discovered blood in his urine.

Jennie's Crohn’s symptoms started when she was pregnant with her first child in 2016. Frequently experiencing extreme pain, blood in her stools and real urgency to go to the toilet.
Following a long stay in hospital after becoming very ill, Jennie eventually had emergency surgery performed as her bowel was imminently going to perforate, resulting in an ileostomy.
In 2019 - Jennie struggled with rectal pain and bleeding which required a proctectomy.
Jennie lives with her partner and 3 children. She is a Personal Assistant within the NHS and spends a lot of her time watching her kids play football!

Jennie has tried other bags but as soon as Confidence BE® Soft Convex was available, she has never looked back. She feels confident to run around after her young children and now experiences no leaks which is so freeing for her.
"I feel so confident to run around after the children now I experience no more leaks."
Nick’s Crohn's symptoms began at aged 13 with his health rapidly deteriorating, spending 3 months in hospital and losing a lot of weight.
Nick was managing his symptoms with medication – but nothing resolved his pain. It was hard for Nick to share and discuss his situation, as a teenager - bowel movements aren’t something you often weave into conversation!
With Nick’s health at an all-time low at aged 17, he had J-pouch surgery. Nick didn't tell anybody at this point and struggled to come to terms with this temporary measure, which was eventually reversed but when medication failed to help; Nick’s stoma became permanent, he now has an Ileostomy.
Nick lives in Hull, he loves music and plays in a band. He also runs a coffee shop and spends as much time as he can with his wife and young daughter.

Having a choice of colour is great for Nick, when at work or performing he wants to feel secure. The protection he feels wearing Confidence BE® soft convex bags, means he has nothing to worry about.
"I feel so secure wearing Confidence BE® when I’m at work or on stage, I have nothing to worry about."
Tom was diagnosed with Crohn’s in 2007, with his symptoms becoming steadily worse over time.
Things took a turn in the 2 years leading up to his surgery, when Tom wasn’t on any medication, he wasn’t leaving the house as he needed to be close to the toilet and was in constant pain. Toms’ mental health was very low during this time, which affected his relationship, his work and his day-to-day life. Toms surgery was planned for 2023, where is ileostomy was formed.
Tom is really keen to share the reality of men living with a stoma, he struggled to find this after his surgery and would like to help others in a similar situation.
Tom lives with his partner Amy and their dog Audrey! He is a Graphic Designer and has an incredible sense of humour!

Tom thinks Confidence BE® is great and hasn’t experienced one single leak. Tom feels Salts are accessible, open and honest which is so important in the stoma community.
Tom brings a unique and entertaining touch of dark humour to his Instagram page and really wants to create a space where men feel empowered to share their thoughts and experiences.
"I think it’s great, I’ve never even had 1 single leak."
Starting in 2015, Emily experienced recurring chest infections, bouts of tonsillitis and ulcers.
She eventually went to the doctors after she noticed blood in the toilet, which had slowly increased over time. It wasn’t until a colonoscopy confirmed Emily had Ulcerative Colitis, following this appointment, Emily went through months of diet changes, trying various supplements and numerous medications; none of which eased her symptoms. Working alongside her clinical team the decision was made to perform surgery, resulting in an Ileostomy.
Emily lives in Southend on Sea with her husband and young son Thomas. She works as a Health Care Assistant in a private healthcare company.
She enjoys reading, getting stuck into a puzzle, going to the cinema and time with her friends and family.

Gravitating towards the stone Confidence BE® bags, Emily wears a flat drainable bag and loves that she has colour choice.
Wearing dresses means it's more hidden and she rarely notices her bag day to day as they are so discreet.
Suddenly, in 2017, Nicky experienced a pain on her lefthand side, she couldn't sleep or lie down and was frequently in A&E in extreme pain.
Over the coming years, Nicky’s symptoms became increasingly worse, resulting in high doses of morphine, using suppositories and often taking bowel prep. The clinical team diagnosed IBS – but at this point, Nicky was taking up to 14 sachets of Movicol a day with no success.
A CT appointment highlighted how damaged Nicky's bowel was. She had not been to the toilet for over 5 months. In 2020, Nicky was hospitalised for 13 days once again.
Between New Years Eve and the 20th January 2024; Nicky had been in hospital 3 times, nothing would take her pain away. The decision was made, and surgery took place resulting in an Ileostomy.
Nicky lives in Belfast with her husband, she has 2 daughters both of whom are at university. She enjoys cooking, fitness and is extremely creative on social media! She also hosts a successful podcast “The Bowel Chronicles”, hearing someone else’s story helped Nicky – filling herself with hope, learning she could have a good quality of life with a stoma. She took the plunge to pass this positivity on.

Nicky wears a Confidence BE® Soft Convex, drainable bag and loves how silent they are, she has also never experienced one single leak.
“Right from the trial, Confidence BE® felt completely different to any bag I’d tried. I wore Confidence BE® all day before my surgery and knew it was the right one. I sat in the hairdressers for 3.5 hours and felt confident”.
Kevin was in the army, worked at festivals, lived on a canal and now works as a forester. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer on his 53rd birthday.
Receiving the news of his bladder cancer was a huge shock for Kevin, his life up until then had been extremely active. He was used to being such a busy person and always on the go – but after his urostomy surgery he made the decision to move to Wales and work in forestry on a community farm.
Kevin is now back to fighting fit and has even managed to build his own log cabin! His job in forestry can be physically demanding and Confidence BE® has allowed him to do this, he could work longer, do more and change his bags a lot less.

Knowing now when to rest and let others take the strain is important to Kevin. Having a stoma has given him a different perspective on life. Having a stoma has in his words, “chilled him”.
The difference between his old bags and Confidence BE® Urostomy is like leather and silk; his bag is a whole different ball game. Having a bag was like an extension of your body – but not anymore.
As a forester, we asked Kevin to compare Confidence BE® to a tree – “it would be a hazel; subtle, bendy and the leaves are very silky!”.
“I don’t even know I’m wearing it. With my old bags, I seemed to be checking it every ten minutes – especially when I was in the forest”.
In 2018, Dec became overweight and was experiencing tiredness and a real lack of interest in his work. He then experienced bleeding but "put his head in the sand".
On visiting his GP, he was told he had a bad case of piles, further tests were carried out and within 6 months; Dec received the news he had bowel cancer.
In October 2018, following a tough few months of radio and chemotherapy, Dec was taken into Stoke Royal for his Colostomy surgery.
Dec lives in Stoke on Trent, with his wife and daughter. Originally a painter and decorator for 42 years, Dec loves Music and spends his free time enjoying photography and videography, he is also in a band – aptly named Sac n Craic!

Since using the Confidence BE® Soft Convex bags, for the last 4 years - Dec has never experienced a leak.
“I feel so confident when I’m on stage that I will never need to run off because of a leak”.
Charlotte has lived with Crohn's since she was 16 years old, suffering with all symptoms.
Things took a turn for Charlotte in 2020, she was struggling to continue with her University work and soon became too unwell to continue. Her Crohn’s had now spread to her large colon, she had a hemicolectomy and subsequently caught an infection and was rushed back into hospital. She came out 6 weeks later and had a hard year of getting her strength back.
In 2023, Charlotte’s debilitating symptoms returned, she had reached an all-time low and her clinical team decided surgery, resulting in a colostomy – would be her best option.

Charlotte lives in Birmingham with her husband and dog Fergus! She works in the NHS, predominately in theatres as an Operating Department Practitioner.
She enjoys walking and going out for dinners with her husband.
Charlotte was on a Confidence BE® flat bag, straight after hospital. She changed from the stone to the black bag, which had a huge positive impact for Charlotte.
Now wearing a Confidence BE® soft convex bag, Charlotte finds her bags so easy to empty, the opening is so simple and clean.
“The black looks seamless, It's part of my clothes and looks part of my outfit”.
In 2018, Rebecca was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis also known as Bladder Pain Syndrome.
Rebecca tried every treatment available to her to keep her incredibly painful and debilitating symptoms at bay and unfortunately nothing worked. Rebecca tried to live life with a nephrostomy bag for around a year without success.
An amazing surgeon at Salisbury accepted Rebecca within her care and in just a short 10 minute examination and appointment, Rebecca was advised she needed her bladder removed.
Having a stoma was the most positive thing to happen to Rebecca since 2018 and she is extremely positive and accepting of her stoma and how it positively impacts her life. She is extremely passionate about raising awareness of those living with a Urostomy.

If Rebecca was able to give points out of 10, she'd give It 1000. As someone who adores jewellery, Confidence BE® is the diamond of all bags.
Rebecca loves the material and tubing of the Confidence BE® Night Drainage Bag; “The night bag is amazing, you can lie on it, squish it and it still drains so well.”
“It's part of my body, I've tried a lot of bags and this really is the king of all bags.”
From just 19 years old, Tina was diagnosed with Crohn’s. She continued working and living her life, despite all her symptoms.
Tina suffered extremely painful joints alongside all her already debilitating Crohns symptoms, eventually seeking clinical advice. Upon further investigation and following various treatment plans, Tina discovered an abscess between her legs along with discharge, an MRI was performed, and it was confirmed, Tina had a rectal vaginal fistula.
Several weeks later at work, Tina experienced horrendous, sharp gripping pains in her stomach - her bowel had perforated - she was rushed into surgery waking up in intensive care, with a colostomy.
Tina now lives a very fulfilled life, using the Confidence BE® Soft Convex bags.
“I love Confidence BE® they are so innovative and easy to use.”
Sophie was 15, enjoying a family holiday in Turkey, when all of her symptoms first began.
At the time, Sophie put her pain, sickness, weight loss and constant diarrhoea down to different foods. However, these symptoms only continued and became worse on her return. What followed next were numerous tests, resulting in a diagnosis of severe constipation. Things became much worse with Sophie constantly off work and still in continuous pain.
A colonoscopy and X-ray showed Sophie's large bowel were ulcerated and was so swollen, it looked almost joined and blocked. She was placed on steroids and medication and as soon as they were reduced, the symptoms returned. Sophie deteriorated so significantly one day, she ended up in hospital resulting in emergency surgery and an Ileostomy.

Sophie feels the colour choice of Confidence BE® is amazing.
“The material Is great and feels really good quality and doesn't attach to any of my clothing.”
In 2006 Deborah was diagnosed with bowel cancer and Lynch Syndrome.
Deborah was informed she had a large cancerous tumour (that had been present for around 5 years) she had a colectomy and went through 6 months of Chemotherapy. Being so young and with no family history of bowel cancer, Deborah was referred to a specialist team who discovered she also had Lynch Syndrome; a predisposition to certain cancers in your genetic makeup.
This allowed Deborah to enter a screening programme of mainly colonoscopy and ovarian scans every 18 months. During one of the regular screens, a polyp was discovered as cancerous and due to Deborah living with Lynch Syndrome, the risk to her health was very high, Deborah was given the advice to have her bowel removed to eradicate the risk.

Deborah lives an extremely busy life, running a successful events company. She can trust Confidence BE® to stick to her body and not have to worry when she’s running a busy event.
"The mini bags are great; Salts are now a very real part of my everyday life."
Laura lived with Ulcerative Colitis for over 18 years, ever since becoming pregnant with her eldest son Alfie but luckily, hadn’t had a big flare in years.
However, following 3 cycles of fertility treatment and having her youngest son Ezra, something exacerbated Laura’s symptoms. For around 3 months, Laura was in and out of hospital, experiencing crippling pain and sickness. After several scans and investigations, clinicians discovered Laura's bowel was blocked, her bowel was so distended that there was a high risk of imminent perforation, so emergency surgery was performed.

Laura feels her Confidence BE® Bags are, small, discreet and streamline to her clothing and doesn’t feel imposing.

By aged 20, Hollie experienced shingles due to her immune system being so affected by all her symptoms. Unfortunately, Hollie slipped through the cracks during 2020, and it wasn’t until 2021, following a laparoscopy that Hollie was given the diagnosis of stage 4 endometriosis. The clinical team cleared as much as they could, it then took 2 years for Hollie to see a bowel specialist.
In 2023, Hollie collapsed at home and was rushed into hospital with a bowel obstruction, it was then her Ileostomy surgery was performed.

Hollie has built up great resilience with all she’s gone through, her stoma is aptly called Stacey and they have built up a great bond! Hollie loves Confidence BE®, often wearing white in her active lifestyle.
“I’ve never had a leak – not once.”
Lucy wasn't opening her bowels for up to 4 weeks at a time, as a child Lucy was always constipated and felt embarrassed to go to the toilet in school due to the pain she would experience, along with often passing out. Also suffering with extremely painful periods and suffering with constant urine infections.
For years, Lucys life and mental health were not sustainable, she had no quality of life, not going out and if she did she was scared she may pass out.
Eventually, in June 2024, Lucy pushed to take private healthcare, Lucy had 2 surgeries 1 to remove her stage 4 Endometriosis and one to form her stoma.

Since having her stoma, Lucy has driven to Cornwall and back without fear, she’s attended the Salts Brunches and has connected with many of the other brand advocates.
“The opening of the Confidence BE bags are the best I’ve ever had, my bag looks nice and they feel compact and small.”
At aged 17, Bee was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis from, she was managed her life altering symptoms with medication, however over the years her symptoms became progressively worse.
It was during the time Bee was undertaking her training to be a Nurse in Leeds, aged 25 her health severely deteriorated. By this point, Bee was going to the toilet around 30 times a day, losing blood and mucus and was in huge amounts of pain. Clinicians in the emergency department informed Bee she was admitted instantly as her bowel could perforate at any time. Bee then had emergency surgery, and her ileostomy was formed.

Bee now sees her bag saved her life; without it she wouldn't be the woman she is today. She is extremely passionate about helping others, by sharing her story she hopes to show just how confident you can be with a stoma!
“Having colour choice is great, I can match my bag to my outfits, my bikinis and my pole sessions.”
Up until 2018, Evie was fit and well and had never even experienced a UTI. Evie underwent surgery to remove a cyst on her ovary, during which damage occurred to her bladder. Evie also has a diagnosis of Fowlers Syndrome.
Following the surgery, she was unable to urinate for 36 hours. A total of 2.8 litres of retained urine was drained from her bladder.
Evie subsequently required a urethral catheter and has since undergone over 20 surgical procedures, including repeated Botox injections into the bladder to help manage her condition. Throughout this period, she has suffered from frequent and recurrent urinary tract infections, and at one point developed sepsis as a result of these complications.
It wasn’t until 2022 that discussions around bladder removal began, following years of ongoing complications and failed treatments. Prior to this, she underwent a trial of sacral nerve stimulation, and a permanent device was implanted just before Christmas of that year. Unfortunately, the treatment was unsuccessful.
The following year, Evie was admitted to Warwick hospital with sepsis and septic shock and was extremely unwell, spending nearly 2 months in hospital. The clinical team finally decided Evie’s body had been through enough and her urostomy surgery was performed. Evie refers to her surgeon, as her superhero even wearing a necklace engraved with date of her surgery as this is the day she was given the gift of being able to live and enjoy life again.

Evie loves the design of Confidence BE®; the look of the bags is amazing.
“With my previous bag, I could still see the output at the bottom of the bag. I can see no output with my Salts bag unless I use the viewing window – this is a luxury that those of us with a Urostomy tend to miss out on, it's an extra level of privacy.”

Georgina relies on a wheelchair for most of her daily activities, this is due to a condition she has called Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) a connective tissue disorder causing severe pain in every joint.
Many of Georgina's health problems began during puberty, she started having nonepileptic seizures which clinicians advised was her bodies way of responding to pain due to her EDS.
Before her stoma surgery, Georgina went up to six weeks without a bowel movement. Despite trying every available laxative, nothing worked, and her body was storing extreme amounts of waste. Georgina tried to manage her symptoms through bowel flushing, but it was ineffective and led to bleeding. She was readmitted to hospital, where doctors advised that a stoma would be the most suitable treatment option.

Georgina has a severely dislocated hip, which makes her right leg significantly shorter than her left. She wears a supportive shoe and a hip brace to help stabilise the joint, but over time this has contributed to a curved spine and scoliosis.
Due to a severe latex allergy, Georgina’s skin reacts to most products, meaning she usually has to change her bag daily—not because of leaks, but to protect her skin.
“Confidence BE® is the only product I’ve found that doesn’t cause me any skin irritation, I’m just comfortable now and have more peace of mind”.
Before her stoma surgery, Gemma was thriving—working, active, and enjoying life. But one evening, she woke in excruciating pain. By the time the ambulance arrived, she was already in advanced sepsis due to a ruptured appendix.
This was a terrifying experience for Gemma as she was unfortunately alone. The clinical team initially performed an X-ray, which appeared normal, but an ultrasound revealed fluid in her abdomen—indicating a bowel rupture. Keyhole surgery was the first step to locate the source. Unbeknownst to Gemma, her hands and feet were turning yellow, a sign her body was shutting down.
After signing the consent forms, Gemma was placed in an induced coma for 24 hours. When she awoke from a 12 hour surgery, the surgical team explained the result of a burst appendix had perforated her bowel, her kidneys had shut down resulting in 2.5 litres of fluid being drained from her abdomen and a stoma formed.
Confidence BE® has given Gemma a sense of confidence. She loves that she has a choice of colour. While the white bags didn’t appeal to her at first, she now uses them in her wardrobe a lot more.
“Confidence BE® is secure, It never bursts and I just feel safer, the outlet is much cleaner and easier to use than other bags I’ve used”.
Mikey was planning to go to Australia, he had a job and house all lined up and was ready to go! Leading an extremely active lifestyle, playing and coaching rugby he couldn’t have imagined what would happen next. It was on Boxing Day when everything would change. Mikey woke up in agonising pain which didn't stop, he would soon be diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis.
Mikey was admitted to hospital following his excruciating pain on Boxing Day 2024, he was released by the clinical team and just a short week later his symptoms worsened. Mikey went back to his GP who informed him he had Ulcerative Colitis, due to the severity of Mikey’s symptoms his GP told him to urgently go back to A&E where he was admitted back into hospital for 7 weeks.
A course of steroids helped in the short term but as soon as this medication was reduced, Mikey's health deteriorated once more.
Mikey had lost around 2 and a half stone by this point and wasn't getting any better at all. It was following those 7 long weeks in hospital the clinical team made the decision to operate, Mikey’s stoma was then formed and his healing could begin.
Mikeys positive mindset has always been to try and make some humour out of a situation and he now wants to raise awareness and educate people, he is now back to playing rugby and really testing Confidence BE®!

"I’ve never had a leak with Confidence BE®, my output is fairly high and I am managing to play rugby and lead as active lifestyle as I possibly can”.
Gemma was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in June 2023 she spent the following 18 months trying steroids and numerous biologics of which she developed resistance to many. She was living life in a continuous flare.
In December 2024, Gemma had her planned stoma surgery. This consisted of an 11 hour operation with 2 surgeons present. There was so much disease in Gemma’s rectum she had an ileostomy and “barbie butt” surgery. Gemma was excited for her surgery, she had spent so much time sick and in pain her recovery felt manageable.
Gemma feels better than she has in years, she had always suffered with her bowels prior to her diagnoses but didn’t realise how unwell she had felt, until she had her operation. Gemma feels like a different person, she was so bloated with steroids, she had no energy and now she’s back in the gym and is slowly introducing more foods into her diet.

Confidence BE® are the only bags that don’t irritate Gemma’s skin, she finds them socomfortable. The base plate is cut so well and fits her tummy well.
“I love everything about the Confidence BE® Bags, I shower at the gym, and they dry so quickly”.
When Andrea was just 6 years old she was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. During this time it was difficult to find support for this particular condition. Katie’s parents pushed to make sure Andrea was seen by a pediatrician and she was successfully transferred to a larger hospital for treatment.
Andrea spent a lot of her childhood trying many different medications to relieve her symptoms, she also had several hospital admissions and numerous colonoscopies to try and establish ways of improving her quality of life.
It was towards the end of 2016 when Andrea became extremely unwell, initially thinking she was in a bad flare up, very soon escalated into much more. Andrea was experiencing all her ulcerative colitis symptoms but now with many more, extreme tiredness and a total lack of appetite. Andrea was soon admitted into A&E with severe blood loss, 11 days later she was able to go home. A later colonoscopy would show Andrea had a large tumor, resulting in a cancer diagnosis and the news she would need her entire large colon removing, and a stoma formed.
Andrea knows sharing her story could help others, she wants to raise awareness and help others who may be in the same position she was.

“Confidence BE® makes such a difference with my day to day life, they are so good on my skin. Previous bags caused leaks and skin rashes - I've never considered trying any other bag”.
Before her stoma surgery, Jess had no consistent clinical team due to her moving location and was repeatedly put on waiting lists. Without specialist input, the flare ups of her Ulcerative Colitis symptoms were not managed at all. In 2022, Jess’s symptoms became unmanageable, including blood and mucus in her stools, which was happening over 30 times a day. At this point, Jess was unable to tolerate rolling over in bed and was unable to eat or drink.

Jess went on to have several emergency hospital admissions and trialled various biological treatments, but these unfortunately didn’t work, resulting in emergency ileostomy surgery. Jess also had proctectomy surgery in 2024. It took Jess a long time to get back a level of health and fitness and adapt to having a stoma.
Jess works in the NHS as a Specialist Palliative Care Occupational Therapist, she believes her stoma helps her to empathise with her patients with their extended hospital stays, changes in bowel function and uncontrolled symptoms.

Confidence BE® enables Jess to live a normal, active, working and personal life. She finds her bags easy to apply and keep clean when draining them several times a day. The adhesive sticks well, with Jess preferring the black bags to match her black underwear.
“Confidence BE® takes away my vulnerability, and I am so incredibly grateful that I live in a time where I can continue to live a normal life, thanks to these products”.
From a very young age, Ross struggled with bad stomach pain his GP sent Ross for many investigative scans and was eventually diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Ross was given medication and was in remission for around 2.5 years.
From a very young age, Ross struggled with bad stomach pain his GP sent Ross for many investigative scans and was eventually diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Ross was given medication and was in remission for around 2.5 years.
Unfortunately, his body slowly worked up a tolerance to the medication and his symptoms took hold once more. He tried several different medications but never seemed to get on top of his symptoms. Trying all the new medications took time and really took its toll on Ross, at this point he was fairly housebound and felt he was missing out on time with his children. His body was eventually just too poorly to take anymore.
Ross knew he needed to make a change and requested surgery; his overall mental and physical health was at an all-time low. The clinical team performed his surgery, resulting in an ileostomy.
Ross is now surrounding himself with people who have been on a similar journey, sharing understanding and camaraderie - there are no expectations along with an understanding to limitations.

Confidence BE® allows Ross to get stuck in with his active life. The resilience of Confidence BE® allows him to live his life. Moving between a flat and soft convex, Ross has the flexibility to see which suits his various activities.
Ross’s also claims his skin is “absolutely brilliant” now.
From birth, Joseph’s bowels were not working, he had around 30cm of his large colon that wasn’t able to contract. He continued to experience bowel issues for all of his younger years, he was extremely under nourished due to the amount of severe pain he was in. At this time, Joseph wasn’t living the life of a child and rarely went out or undertook any activities as he was in hospital so frequently.

Joseph’s skin reacts to many different things, including tapes, however, his skin hasn’t reacted to Confidence BE® at all.
“My bags really good, I would rather use the smaller bags for swimming. They stick and are really comfortable to sleep on”.
