Who this day is suitable for:

An extremely popular educational event for ward based nurses, HCAs and carers keen to learn more about the basics of providing quality stoma care. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn and practise the fundamentals of managing a stoma and supporting their patients in the first few days after surgery.

This event is also available as a roadshow - please speak to your local Salts Territory Manager for details and dates.

Learning objectives:

Develop Understanding of Surgical Procedures: Gain insight into surgical procedures involved in managing colorectal and bladder diseases, including stoma formation.

Learn Stoma Creation Process: Understand how stomas are surgically created and the anatomical considerations involved.

Enhance Stoma Care Knowledge: Build a deeper awareness of how to care for individuals living with a stoma, ensuring optimal support.

Increase Confidence in Stoma Management: Strengthen your confidence in assisting patients with managing their stoma care effectively.

Recognise Complications: Identify potential complications early and know when to seek advice from a Specialist Stoma Care Nurse (SSCN).

Cultural Sensitivity in Stoma Care: Develop an understanding of the cultural factors influencing stoma care, including how cultural beliefs, practices, and values may impact patient care and communication. Learn how to provide culturally competent care that respects the diverse backgrounds of patients.
