Who this day is suitable for:

Specialist stoma care nurses who care for babies and children intermittently to help update and refresh knowledge. It covers essential areas, including understanding paediatric-specific pathologies, the unique characteristics of neonatal skin, and the application of evidence-based stoma care practices.

Nurses will also learn to recognise and manage complications, including peristomal skin breakdown and post-stoma closure care. Additionally, the day will explore product selection tailored to the needs of paediatric patients and emphasises holistic care, ensuring both the child and their family receive comprehensive emotional and physical support throughout the stoma care journey.

Please note: We are running two Advanced Paediatric Study Days, and the presentations and information given are the same on both dates.

Learning objectives:

Master Complication Management: Recognise, prevent and manage stoma complications, including peristomal skin breakdown, systemic complications, and post-stoma closure care.

Evidence-Based Stoma Care: Apply evidence-based best practices in paediatric stoma care, using global guidelines and research to optimise clinical outcomes for children with stomas.

Product Selection and Usage: Gain expertise in the appropriate use of paediatric stoma care products and accessories, tailoring care to the specific needs of neonates and children.
