Oliver Kaye is just 16 years old and has an Ileostomy as a result of his Ulcerative Colitis.
After surgery…
For Oliver, the first few days after stoma surgery were tough and painful, which is to be expected, and the painkillers helped a significant amount for him. Within 4 days, Oliver returned home from hospital and each day he began to feel better, look better and eat better. It is great to hear that Oliver knows that his stoma will, overall, benefit his life!
Life back for a teenage boy
Oliver is optimistic about his recent stoma surgery and seems to be finding the benefits and the bright side of his ostomy.
Oliver feels like he has another chance at being a teenager again which is amazing to know. The realisation of now having the ability to go out and socialise again, do sports, put on weight and the happiness and hope it gives Oliver for the future, makes it all worth it.

Oliver uses Salts Confidence BE® bags and has had an amazing experience with stoma care products. Any problem that he has, his stoma care nurses will always try to find a solution, whether it be a little trick or a new product, to help him out.
A piece of advice from Oliver…
“Short term pain for long term gain”
We love this short but sweet piece of advice from 16-year-old Oliver. He truly knows the benefit that his stoma will have on the quality of his life for the future. In addition to this, Oliver wants people to appreciate that your ostomy has saved your life and given you another shot at enjoying your life to the fullest.
