You may open social media and see that everyone has it all figured out, everyone is achieving milestones, living their best life, making it look easy... but remember that the online world is only a tiny glimpse into someone’s entire life; they may not feel on the inside the way they appear on the outside, especially behind closed doors.
We've put together a few different ways you can spend time putting your well-being first, rather than scrolling for hours.
Why not try something completely different? You could find your new favourite!
You could try scrapbooking, crotchet, painting, or even just doodling on a post-it note.
Soothing music can be incredibly helpful when trying to unwind. You could also listen to a podcast that interests you!
Let them know you’re grateful for them, just because!
No need to do it every single day, just whenever you’re grateful for something or someone.
Why not try the 4-7-8 breathing technique? It’s thought to help reduce nervousness, stress, and calm anxiety.
If you are able to, take a quiet walk outdoors, even if it’s just for a few minutes! Being in nature can help bring you to the present and ground your mind.
We have a webinar all about your body’s happy hormones and how to boost them, watch it today to see how you can benefit!
Our Physical Well-being page has advice on getting back into exercise after stoma surgery. Be sure to seek advice from your Stoma Care Nurse prior to starting any new exercises.
Mindfulness apps can be a good alternative to social media, helping you focus on the present moment. Visit our Psychological Well-being page to find some recommendations!
Is there a topic you’ve always been interested in? Why not watch a YouTube video, read an article, or listen to a podcast to dive into it?
No need to do anything.
