Salts Healthcare has gone “above and beyond” for DHC

When Salts Healthcare first heard about The Disabled and Helpless Children’s New Life Centre, Nepal (DHC) we instantly wanted to help this great cause.

DHC is a non-profit, non-government organisation, which aims to provide a caring home environment with education, healthcare and the development of life skills necessary to assist children in Nepal who are disabled and/or without any means of support to become self-reliant, independent adults.

One girl who desperately needed help was Rakshaya. Her story is below:

Rakshaya is 7 years old and has polio. Her father died recently and her mother was unable to sustain her large family. Rakshaya was living on the street relying on the kindness of strangers.

That’s where Salts Healthcare came in, and donated to DHC through our Salts Changing Lives scheme. This new scheme communicates about the many ways in which we support great causes each year, and highlights all of the amazing work different charities do.

“We’re committed to giving back to others, protecting the environment and supporting our people.”

Our donation of £2000 to DHC now means two young girls who had previously been living in poverty, one of which was Rakshaya, are now able to find a safe home where they will be cared for and educated. Now they are guaranteed food, education, healthcare, clothing and the support of other children at DHC.

In the words of the DHC, our donation has gone “above and beyond”.

Plans in the future for DHC involve enrolling ten more disabled children, with a special focus on girls with disability. Visit the DHC website to find out more about this brilliant cause and how you could help by visiting www.dhcnlc.org.
