Salts Healthcare attends ASCN 2022

This year’s ASCN UK (Association of Stoma Care Nurses UK) conference was held in Harrogate last week, and was titled “Together Again – Demonstrating the Importance of the Specialist Stoma Care Nurse”.  We finally had a face-to-face conference once again after a gap of 3 years since the 2019 event!  It was fantastic to see so many Stoma Care Nurses and healthcare professionals under one roof again, developing their knowledge and expertise in the area of Stoma Care.

Salts Healthcare welcomed visitors to our spa-themed stand which focussed on the benefits Confidence BE® can have towards wellbeing.  Delegates benefitted from calming diffused spa scents; the opportunity to mix their own signature scent from essential oils and taking part in a quiet breathing exercise, as well as viewing all of the latest information on how Confidence BE® can support wellbeing. Here are some close up features of the stand!

Nurse delegates who attended the Salts Healthcare Breakfast Symposium heard a presentation by Stephanie Scoffield, Senior Organisational Development Consultant at Kings College in London, titled: Providing tools to strengthen the emotional wellbeing of patients throughout their healthcare journey.  It covered advanced communication skills to support nurses in their communication with patients during their stoma journey, and how this can be adapted to suit the various stages of this journey.

Robert Salt, Managing Director, was delighted to present this year’s Philip Salt Nurse of the Year Award to Jo Buxton, Senior Specialist Nurse in Stoma/Colorectal Nursing at Oxford University Hospitals Trust.  This award is awarded to a nurse who has made a particular contribution to Stoma Care Nursing, and is based on nominations by peers.

Salts Healthcare is delighted to continue to support the great work of ASCN UK, and we look forward to working towards next year’s conference which will be held in Brighton.
