Counselling Skills Workshop – A Powerful First for Salts Academy
This year marked a meaningful first for the Salts Academy
We hosted our very first Counselling Skills Workshop, led in partnership with June and Christopher from Begat (Training and Counselling) Ltd.
Begat is a counselling agency and Approved Training Centre (ATC) for the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB). They offer integrative, person-centred training for individuals, couples, and groups.
Their name — meaning “to bring into existence” — truly reflects their ethos of nurturing personal growth and supporting the development of skilled, compassionate communicators.
The workshop focused on building confidence, reflection, and emotional awareness in clinical practice, underpinned by the CUE model: Congruence, Unconditional Positive Regard, and Empathy. Delegates explored their own communication styles, learned how to sit with silence, and gained tools to support deeper, more compassionate patient interactions.
A Transformative Learning Experience
Over two days, the workshop combined lectures, hands-on practice, and breakout discussions, with consistently high feedback:
