Below you will find details about the courses and study days run by the Salts Academy:
Course Information:
At the Salts Academy, we run a series of courses each year. The following courses are run in conjunction with De Montfort University, Leicester:
PCPH 5020 advanced principles and practice of stoma care (30 Credits / Level 7 / Masters)
In conjunction with DeMontfort University Leicester.
- Completion of module is by:
- Attendance at the study days
- Presentation to peers
- 5000 word assignment
- Applicants must have attained a degree at 2:2 level or above
PCPH 3020 principles and practice of stoma care (30 Credits / Level 6 / Degree)
In conjunction with DeMontfort University Leicester
- Completion of module is by:
- Attendance at the study days
- Presentation to peers
- 4000 word assignment
- Applicants must be post graduate nurses studying to degree level
Both courses will run on the following dates in 2022:
Spring Course:
- 27th & 28th April 2022
- 18th & 19th May 2022
- 15th & 16th June 2022
Autumn Course:
- 5th & 6th October 2022
- 9th & 10th November 2022
- 7th & 8th December 2022
Course costs:
- Available on request
Suitable for:
- All nurses working within the Stoma/Colorectal setting.

The following course is run in conjunction with Birmingham City University and Birmingham Children’s Hospital:
Children's Stoma Care & Continence Management (20 Credits / Level 6 & 7)
Course Dates:
- 19th, 20the & 21st September 2022
- 16th, 17th & 18th November 2022
Entry requirements:
- Level 6 applicants must be post graduate nurses working and have regular access to children with a stoma
- Level 7 applicants must be post graduate nurses working and have regular access to children with a stoma; applicants must have attained a degree at 2:2 level or above. Students with a 2:2 will be required to complete 500 words critique of a relevant article.
Course Requirements:
- A portfolio of practice based learning including reflection and critical analysis – equivalent to 3000 words.

- The Venue for all courses/study days will be held in the brand new Salts Academy located in Salts Head Office, Richard Street, Birmingham, B7 4AA.
Revalidation:
All of our study days, courses and educational events can contribute to your CPD hours and can relate to at least one of the 4 themes of The Code.
Due to the on-going uncertainties regarding Covid-19 and with the possibility of certain areas going into a local lockdown, there is the option that the courses will be ran on-line.
