The Chelsea Burley Trust
The Chelsea Burley Trust is a family fundraising page set up by a family friend of one of Salts' employees, to raise money and spread awareness of brain tumours, after Chelsea, aged 12, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in November 2012 and is still fighting now.
Chelsea’s parents: “We have set this charity up to spread awareness of brain tumours. Our daughter, Chelsea, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in November 2012 and is still fighting now. We want to contribute by raising as much money as we can to help with the much needed research into brain tumours; and to give other patients the opportunity to have some fun by funding days out; and to make the oncology day room and the ward a more comfortable place to be, as patients and their families do spend a great lot of time there for treatment.
The Chelsea Burley Trust logo was created by Chelsea herself – back at the very first scan at North Staffs, when they found the tumour. As we walked onto the children's ward, the nurses whisked Chelsea away from us and took us to her private room to tell us the devastating news. After a bit of time for it to sink in, the nurses came back in with Chelsea and showed us a big butterfly she had made. This butterfly then hung in our living room window for the next 17 months until the tumour was removed. Now it can fly high as the charity's logo.”
