Proposals for the future arrangements on the supply of stoma products

Dear Salts Medilink Customer,

I am writing to you as a customer of Salts Healthcare to draw your attention to a Consultation launched recently by the Department of Health, which proposes changes in the ways that the government pays for some of the products and services you receive as a user of appliances.

We are concerned that the proposals could mean that Salts, or any other company, may no longer be able to provide some essential services.  These include home delivery and support for stoma care nursing. We know that these services are highly valued by our customers and are indeed vital to many.

To address this threat to you, we are working closely with the Patients Industry Professionals Forum (PIPS) to communicate our concern, and those of our customers, to the government.

We have already met with the Department of Health who seem prepared to listen to our concerns.  However, they need to understand in greater detail both the services that we provide and the challenges that you all face.

In order to achieve this we are seeking your views about those elements of the current service that you most appreciate.  Can I ask you to please complete the attached questionnaire, the results of which will be communicated directly to the government and will, we are confident, go a long way towards saving these essential services.

Please do take a few moments to fill this out.  It can be returned to us, free of charge, before 18 January 2006.

We would also encourage you to write to your Member of Parliament to bring this matter to his or her attention.
