Event

Released: 04 January 2007

Salts are holding a "Proud to be Loud" event at our head office in Birmingham from the 29th January – 4th February 2007 in aid of Beating Bowel Cancer’s "Loud Tie Campaign". This is to help raise much-needed funds to fight the UK’s second biggest cancer Killer. Bowel Cancer claims almost 50 lives everyday.

Loud Tie"Proud to be Loud" is part of Beating Bowel Cancer’s annual fund raising campaign "Loud Tie 2007". This is to encourage all of the staff at our head office to wear the wildest ties or neckpiece they can find. This is a way of having fun and at same time raising money for a good cause while making fools out of ourselves.

Behind all the fun is a serious message, bowel cancer will affect 1 in 18 people and currently kills nearly 50 people everyday. A large majority (nearly 90%) of cases could be treated successfully if caught early enough. Many people are often too embarrassed to talk about their symptoms and this is where the problems get worse and may become untreatable as they delay in seeking medical advice.

The purpose of the campaign is not only to raise the much needed funds to help fight bowel cancer but to help raise awareness and to encourage people to "talk out loud" about bowel cancer.

Take the first step - Talk about it
